I pulled a tragic, toe-scufflingly remorseful resignation at work this week. NAMELY BECAUSE I'M LEAVING IN 15 DAYS, 11 HOURS, YESSSSSSSSSSS. But on one level, I guess I could say it's kind of sad: I'm kind of getting used to spending 15 hours/week scanning archival documents from Halifax's House of Assembly in the 1810s, and listening to much of the following:

a) This American Life, aka Ira Glass' adorable lisp (sometimes he doles out relationship advice!);

b) CBC Radio 3, podcasts or just plain radio or sometimes just a random fishing of New Music Canada's billions of sexy Cdn artist pages;

c) podfic (even though I have to skip through the sex because dudes! I AM AT WORK!);

d) the New Yorker's terribly fucking hip Fiction Podcast that makes me want to simultaneously forget about writing real fiction ever and also delete my lj entirely because I am just that ambivalent;

e) my own excellent taste in music, which you should all definitely friend on last.fm so that I can be further shamed out of listening to Placebo ever again;

and;

f) the occasional mortgage advice podcast, because I am obviously living in a fantasy world where crippling student debt doesn't exist and me and my future pound dog will live in idyllic bliss in my fantasy 2-bed, 2-bath, fenced-yard character home within walking distance of the LRT, the Central Library and probably the homeless shelter, too, by virtue of geographic reality.

However, I have two weeks of full-time work left to fill with distractatory talkin and/or tunez, so if anyone has any recs for favourite radio stations, podcasts, music sources, AND YES, THE BEST PODFIC, do tell.

Hey, this is a thing I can comment on!

Oh, do I ever have podcast recs. I have spent the last three summers listening to hundreds and hundreds of hours of podcasts while raw-handedly scrubbing bones & pop bottles clean with a toothbrush. Mostly just talk-y podcasts, and you've already discovered Ira Glass, my secret boyfriend, so:

The Sound of Young America (http://www.maximumfun.org/listen.htm) - really great interviews with really interesting people.

Never Not Funny (http://pardcast.com/) - my favourite podcast, but you have to pay for it (there's a free 20-minute version, though -- also, I usually just delete them after I've listened, but I have three that are as-yet undeleted, and I can send them to you if you'd like!).

Stop Podcasting Yourself (http://phobos.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=275538947) - out of Vancouver! And really good!

Jordan, Jesse, Go! (http://ax.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/viewPodcast?id=207698746) - Two guys in California talk about stuff & are generally fun to listen to.

Battleship Pretension (http://www.battleshippretension.com/) - two guys talk about movies, and stuff, and it's alright.

So basically I am subscribing to all of these, thank you! My one fear is that after these two weeks are done, I'm going to be back to not knowing how/when to listen to podcasts. It's hard to figure out what the perfect level of multitasking is: my job is extremely monotonous, so it works. But what else do I willingly do that would lend itself to radio? Commuting, I guess. If I ever get a job.

Thanks so much, dude. I will let you know how awesome they are as soon as you let me know when the eff you're getting to the AB!

Eugh, email is in drafts and being sent, STAT. But it's the 21st to the 2nd. I will have more details for you shortly!

I know, though -- I have a billion podcasts built up now because I don't have enough time to listen to them. Between the hour of walking-commute, plus gym time, I'm catching up, though!
