western AU recs of GLORY

Oh dude, some mysterious author remixed my 12 Strong Horses story - Jo/Dean, kind of gen, the odd bit of wincest in later bits - from last summer at the kamikazeremix challenge. I couldn't have hoped for a better remix, either. It's above and beyond what I was expecting and I'm just so floored by the quality and the execution.

Patience be a tired mare is a close Ellen POV with a beautiful, twangy tone and a level of detail and fatigue that just cuts right into the heart of the story. The author takes the original's adolescent pain and anger and views it through a shroud of experience and slow suffering that makes it more valid, more real and hurtful, and it also wraps the whole thing in a sense of purpose and deliberate choice that the original lacked. I'm agog, and I love it so much, and I couldn't say thank you enough to whoever wrote it. THANK YOU.

Also, my own secret remix is in there somewhere with a dumb-as-fuck title, and no one will ever guess it was me writing such horrifying fly-by-night stories of disturbingness.

And finally, I leave for Halifax tomorrow, I am kind of freaking out, but I have so much fic that is so close to being done that it will be worth having put off packing for 2525245 days, until the very last second. :/
